Pekka Korvenoja was nominated delegate for Finland

Report of the General Secretary and Treasurer
Finance
The bank used by the EBCP has been changed from Lloyds bank to NatWest in the UK. In the future, payment by credit card will be possible from the web page.
Journal
The Journal of Interactive Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (ICVTS) will be the official journal of the EBCP in the future. Three Board members will be invited to the Editorial Board.
Serbia
The delegate from Serbia, Lazo Eremija, presented the Perfusion Education Programme in Serbia. There are a total of 27 perfusionists, with 3400 procedures performed in 6 centres.
South Africa
Two invited observers from South Africa presented the situation in their country. Their wish is to have a closer collaboration with the EBCP.
Report of the Accreditation Committee
The following training centres were site visited and accredited:
Villingen-Schwennigen
Leiden
Vilnius, Lithuania
Villigen-Schwennigen applied for harmonisation which was accepted commencing June 2009
Leiden will apply for harmonisation

Harmonisation
Students from schools under the harmonisation process do not need to take the exam but need to apply by 30th June of the respective year of graduation on the “harmonisation” application form which is on the EBCP web site under PROGRAMMES AND MEETINGS
Report of the Certification Committee
Examination 2009
The exam dates are the 20th and 21st November
If the candidate fails the examination, he is eligible to sit the examination one more time the following year without an extra fee.
Recertification
There was a slight increase in the trend for recertification in 2008 and recertification documents are still being received for this period.
Recertification is every 3 years and perfusionists are encouraged to recertify to maintain certification. Perfusionists who have not complied are encouraged to bring their documents up to date.
New Secretary
Mattias Widerström replaces Renate Behr as the new Certification Secretary.
The Board heartily thanks Renate for the enormous task that she has performed over the many years.
EBCP Education Conference, 17th October
The conference, titled “Strategies in Perfusion”, and organised by Carole Hamilton, Heinz Weitkemper, Eddy Overdevest and Charlie Grima, was a huge success with numbers of participants far exceeding those of the previous year. The industry is also thanked for sponsoring part of the sessions.
